The aim at Maes-y-Dderwen care home is to meet the individual needs of every resident. To achieve this we use a person centred approach to care where the focus is on the strengths of the service users rather than pathology. Within the home there is a strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship between service user and care staff.

We recognise that the service users, despite the fact that they are suffering from a mental illness, have the capacity to learn, grow, change and enjoy their lives. All of them are supported to integrate fully with the local community and to take advantage of its social, educational and recreational opportunities. It is the challenge for those working at the unit to maximise those opportunities.

Maes-y-dderwen is a dynamic and exciting place for both the service users to live in and for our staff to work in. The service we offer is diverse and specialised. All our practice is evidence based and reflects the key principles of the National Service Frameworks for mental illness.
